12 Days of Collaboration
To celebrate the 12 Days of Christmas, I will be writing an article a day through the 25th. These posts will be on the theme of collaboration looking at various ways to get students and teacher to work together as part of a bigger project. This "12 Days of Collaboration" project will explore issues with collaborative projects, tools for collaboration, and frameworks that you can use with your own projects. While I have not been so clever as to link each topic with the series number (e.g. two turtle doves), I hope you will find the content interesting and perhaps even useful.
- Delicious Online Research
- Brainstorming with Your Writeboard
- YackPack Your Point of View - articulating your point of view using spoken work rather than written word
- Wiki Review Sheets
- Problems with Collaboration
- Google Docs for Creative Writing
- Google Docs and Wikis for Science Lab Write Ups (private during dev - teacher ok - and then published to wiki so that all labs are maintained through out the year and students can review other students' results providing comments or post-scripts on their writeups)
- Zoho Show for Digital Storyboarding - collaboratively create a storyboard - one presentation "slide" = one storyboard cell.
- Google and Yahoo Groups where teachers and/or students list questions and students respond. Better than blogs in that students can respond directly to a response (thredded discussion).
- Blogging Your Class - e.g. Darren K's ap calc
- Chat by the Campfire [http://www.campfirenow.com] for online review sessions - teachers and students chat answering questions for a test - can share images = good for math? - can review chat transcripts to see participation = give students credit for helping other students.
- Assessing the Process with RSS = tool for assessing process
